Does my garment qualify for a replacement / refund?
Polaris will replace any garment less than 24 months old which has been failed through fair wear and tear at our discretion. Our bike bags / pods are designed to maximise the chances of your bike arriving at its destination unharmed. Any claims for damage to your bike should be aimed at the employers of your baggage handlers and not Polaris. The bags / pods are only guaranteed against manufacturing defects not defective baggage handling!!
My garment does qualify! How can I go about getting a replacement / refund?
We advise that you return the garment to the shop where you bought it and obtain a replacement through them. If you bought the product from us directly, please return it to us marked "FAO returns", with a note inside explaining the problems.
Please don't return the item to us if you didn't buy it from us directly - it is important for future product development that we log returns correctly and they come through the correct channels. If you didn't buy the product from us we can't issue a replacement or a refund as you will have paid a lot more for it than the people who bought it off us!
Please note, Polaris does not accept returns over sizing issues once the garment has been worn out on the bike. Please try the garment on when you receive it to check the fit is correct and if it isn't return it at that point.
Please note we will not accept any garmets returned in a dirty or wet condition. These will be sent back to you by return post.
What's the best way of packing my bike bag / pod to avoid my lovely bike being damaged by nasty baggage handlers?
Although our pods / bags are designed to maximise the chances of your bike arriving at its destination undamaged, for extra peace of mind we recommend the following measures be taken when preparing your bike for transit:
Attach lengths of pipe insulation (or similar) to the frame of the bike to eliminate any risk of scratching.
Attach a length of piping to the largest front chain set to ensure its teeth cause no damage to the inside of the pod.
For total protection remove the rear derailleur and wrap it up. Alternatively flex it till straight and attach it to the base of the frame.
Between the front and rear wheel hangers, insert a length of rigid material to ensure that the frame will not be distorted if the pod is placed under extreme pressure.
Buy a pair of cheap skewers and use these when the pod is in transit instead of your normal ones. The skewers and QR nuts are the two points of the bike most likely to be damaged by rough bagaage handlers so we recommend you eliminate the risk to them completely.
We highly recommend removal of the pedals, handlebars and the seat post; these should be wrapped and carried separately in the pod. Packing out the pod with other ‘soft’ travel kit such as clothing is also recommended; don’t forget to put it in a bag first though!
What should I wash my aging waterproof with so that it keeps me from looking like a drowned rat?
We recommend that when putting your lovely jacket in the wash you stick some waterproofing agent in the drawer to keep it performing brilliantly. A standard waterproof coating can usually take about 20 washes, but using the wash-in proofing products available at any good outdoor store can improve this.
Can I come and visit the factory shop for some bargains?
Unfortunately we had to close the factory shop some months ago. We do not sell direct to the customer on the premises anymore. All our seconds and end of line items can now be purchased in our special offers section - there are some fantastic deals on offer there and we update it regularly!
