This old chestnut again ! On previous events we have seen some neat perspex map clips/holders which attach to the handlebars but we have not been able to track them down does anyone have any ideas? they are about 20cm x 15cm . The main advantage would seem that they don't obscure your view of the front wheel !

As soon as you put a map on them they will though!

I think Ultrasport may sell them (their website
seems to be down, but you should find contact
details on the British Orienteering Federation
Website, www.britishorienteering.org.uk). Otherwise
make one yourself - details on singletrackworld site.

I made mine from a piece of perspex (cut to whatever size you want, start big and cut it down), 2 20mm pipe clips bolted to the perspex, and 2 tie wraps through the perspex and round the bars to stop it all bouncing off. It has stayed on the bars for about 2 years until I took it off for some maintenance. I got the perspex free and the clips and wraps probably cost about 10 to 20p.

Also try Rick Houghton at Compass Point at http://www.compasspoint-online.co.uk/

He may have the perspex holders and definately has the rotating map boards

I would defiantly go for the perspex version , I have tried aluminuim but I did'nt fancy having my knees sheared off in a fall ! Don't even consider the cheaper flexible A4 variety from Halfords and the like, they move/blow all over the place.
