Just received this infor from SA
What is a charabang? and would it get us all to SA?
The first "African Polaris Challenge"
To be held on the weekend of the 27th and 28th April 2002 in the Outeniqua Mountains area. This race will be the 'mother' of MTB races. It will be tough for the fit teams that want to score high. They will have to cover a large area in search of checkpoints and get back to the finish with in the 7 hour time limit, The second day you have five hours to race between different checkpoints and try to score higher than you did the first day. This event also lends itself to novices that want to improve their mountain biking skills or to those that just want to ride for the fun of it country. Novice or the 'not so fit' teams can cruise between the nearby CP's and enjoy the mountain biking. The team at the end of the weekend with the highest and smallest time penalties takes the cake.
