I take it the April 2003 event will be as per usual spring events?

Would I be right in thinking that in fact the summer event seems to be getting more popular than the the other 2 tougher ones?

As an unashamed girlie who has no desire to carry round full pack all day, but who does fancy an IOM event, is there any way of incorporating both types of event to keep both serious competitors who like suffering and the many like myself who think the cycling alone is tough enough happy?

By Jon B on Thursday, April 11, 2002 - 03:41 pm:

Might I suggest that you do it as a mixed pair with a guy who likes to suffer.

If you want an IOM event then try http://www.manxmtb.org/

Jon, It's a team event. How can one person suffer less than their teammate? Another pointless, self gratifying comment full of a smug self confidence that exudes from every statement that you bother to post. This thread has now died a death. I think Carol wanted some constructive replies. Can i refer thee to your very own thread of "why can't people stick to..."
Cheers Jon.

Let me see doc, could they possibly carry more of the kit required for the overnight camp?, or maybe use a BMX (Which 9 Year olds like you should know a bit about!), there are plenty of ways one partner can suffer more...
Why not ask John or Jerry if they'll team up and show you.

By Jon B on Wednesday, November 6, 2002 - 11:23 am:

Jesus H Christ Steve - sorry... Doc, have you
got nothing better to do than trawl back
through every thread on the forum looking for
postings that might be read as supporting
your prejudiced point of view? You really are
desperate to be right aren't you?

Re' this thread, here's another scenario: Carol
took my point - that she could find a bloke to
ride with that would carry most of the kit,
thought it was a reasonable idea and didn't
feel the need to post again. Now I'm not
saying that that was what happened but its
possible isn't it?

One further point: How many people bothered
to respond to Carol's question at all? Do you
think that she would have prefered to be
ignored completely?

If you are intent on raking through all my old
postings (it will take some time - there are lots
of them and they are often mixed up in all
kinds of wanderings in threads that go off the
point) then for the sake of balance you will
point out to the rest of the forum where people
agreed with me or places where I made what
were, even to your jaundiced eyes, obviously
positive/consatructive comments, won't you?

PS If you're out there Carol, I'd be interested to
know whether you interpretted my response in
the way that Doc did.

By Chris M on Thursday, November 7, 2002 - 11:07 am:

Doc,

I'd volunteer to ride with you, and then you'd find out it is possible to suffer more than your teammate. Unfortunately I think from all I can gather about you I'd be the one suffering, so I'll withdraw that. All things considered I think I'd rather ride with Jon, as at least that way my excess suffering would only be physical.

Oh, and just to save you the trouble of going through all past threads, I tend to agree with a lot of what Jon says here. Not everything - if we did all agree, the threads would rapidly stop, or degenerate into an unconstructive argument between those who have a clue and those who don't, rather than being the sort of informed debate we all had before you appeared.

By jon on Thursday, November 7, 2002 - 11:15 am:

Well Doc.com, you seem to have become the very thing that you were complaining about, someone who vents their strong opinion with scant regard to others feelings. Ironically, JonB is starting to look like an unfairly injured party! This might be a case of time to stop digging, unless it is your intention to amuse everyone else with these rantings and I just haven't got the joke.
Your anonymity is questionable though, if you are serious about your views then stand up for yourself and come out from behind the screen.

By Doctor David Comsal on Thursday, November 7, 2002 - 08:16 pm:

informed debate.....nope. elitist back patting...yes. i was going to withdraw a few days ago when i realised how close you appear to be(which explains the lack of comaraderie i've experienced in the last few events) but with my name being mentioned so much i thought hey they'll only miss me when i'm gone. so now that i have chosen to withdraw lets see how long it takes for the saddos amongst you to stop referring to Doc.com.

ever heard of grandiose delusions doc.com?

By GrantM on Friday, November 8, 2002 - 10:10 am:

Leave it nic heees not worth it....

By Chris M on Friday, November 8, 2002 - 01:02 pm:

I know I should leave it, but I thought it should be pointed out that if that's his attempt to become non-anonymous (and point out how clever he's been and how we should have been able to work out who he was all along), then in his case "last few events" refers to something at least 3 years ago. I really can't be bothered looking through more results for a non-existent name. I suppose that could still not be his real name :-o, or maybe he doesn't actually ride Polaris?

By Saddo on Friday, November 8, 2002 - 01:43 pm:

Doc, steady on - I think that you have kept everyone amused and you certainly shouldn't be withdrawing from the event. It's fun to see JonB getting a dose of his own medicine, and who better than a doctor to deliver it?

By d+d on Friday, November 8, 2002 - 04:02 pm:

Doc,I enjoy the piss being took out of Jon.PLEASE keep it coming

By Doctor David Comsal on Saturday, November 9, 2002 - 09:43 am:

Jon, I appologise for being a complete
dickhead. I have nothing more to add to the
discussion.

By Jon B on Tuesday, November 12, 2002 - 12:53 am:

Huh?

By James on Tuesday, November 12, 2002 - 01:19 am:

Sadly it's a poor forgery rather than true enlightenment.

By carolmoir on Tuesday, November 12, 2002 - 02:36 pm:

So, that will be a 'no' then?

By Jon B on Tuesday, November 12, 2002 - 03:20 pm:

Carol,

I'm afraid I'm going to have to see two forms of
identification, including a recent utilities bill
before I answer that question.
