Polaris Vouchers as prizes

Polaris Challenge Forum: Forum: Polaris Vouchers as prizes
By Disappointed on Sunday, December 1, 2002 - 09:38 pm:

I received my vouchers from Dark & White events today - 5 for doing the Hathersage event (seemed odd at the time!) and 5 for winning a category at Sherwood.
I was looking forward to going and spending them next weekend at the Bolsover event, so I went on to the website advertised on the letter just to see what sort of kit I could look forward to.

I am so disappointed - it turns out I have to spend 25 to use one 5 voucher.
This doesn't seem much of a prize anymore:-(

Are you sure?

If it's really true, I guess they were (reasonably) unhappy with a small set of people collecting a bunch of vouchers and walking away with a houseful of free kit. 10 spent for 5 saved would sound more reasonable to me though.

If this is true it really does de-value the prizes. However I recently cashed in around 30 worth at face value without having to spend real cash alongside them.

I have just spoken to Polaris and you only have to spend 20 for each 5 off, apparently the rules have changed recently.

Check out their website.
They obviously haven't updated it with the new information about 20 and not 25

I mistakenly gave out just Polaris vouchers at a national event in 2000. It didn't go down well as an awful lot of folks don't do many events.
I wouldn't bother again, I got slated for it in the event evaluation returns.

Vouchers issued before 2002, where done so
on a face value basis. ie 5 voucher worth 5
in the shop regardless of how much you
spend.

presumably Polaris are honouring these early
issues. The vouchers have serial numbers
and hence polaris are tracking them.

This is how I understand it.

Yeh but if folks have only got a 5 voucher, they have to spend perhaps 20 more to get any benefit.
That's what people objected to.
It's only regular entrants that get anything out of the deal, and down here there weren't enough events for the scheme to work at all.
