Any idea when the details for NAVITAC will be posted on the website. Judging from a thread further up the tree some people have already got entry forms and details in the post. Are these being sent out to previous entrants as normal?
Come on guys, still no details on the website!
Everyone on our database have been sent an entry form for the Navitac.
I presume that "Minimum of 2 during the night" means two competitors? So how do the Solos manage that then?

Andy
Doh, you got me. It wouldn't have beeen the first rather brainless and somewhat annoying post recently.
Couple of NAVITAC questions before I fill in the form and enter.
Steve
Graham,
Meet Billy no mates! Staring failure starkly in the face. Failure to convince my pedalling partner that 24 hours of eventing is good for the soul. I must now consider marshalling as a way of getting my nose in on this event. So, what is the deal for marshalls? Any perks? Do they swap CP's? How long can one person remain stationary? None of this is meant in a derogatory manner. I just feel i need to know prior to volunteering. Human after all. Etc..........
Daz, if you want to do the event why not start a
Cheers Jon. But i did give this a lot of thought previously and came to the conclusion that my enthusiasm outweighs my fitness/ability. I have done a couple of PC and haven't managed to break into the top 50%. With entries limited i expect that only the most dedicated will be in there with the entry forms filled in and raring to go. I am under some illusion that part timers like myself don't fancy it even though i really do. Maybe i'm wrong, either way i'm sure i'll find out here.
Maybe, but if the Red Bull 24 hour event is
If that was meant to be funny then it was. The last bit i mean........very dry. Its a good job i've got more than o-level maths, else i'd have needed my calc to help me out. Maybe it's down to self doubt, i don't know. We'll see. If someone else starts looking for a partner then maybe i'll throw my hat in. Thanks for the input anyway.
I seem to recall reading that at the first Red Bull, something like 70% of entrants were competing in a mountain bike event for the first time!!!
Graham and Roger,
p.s.
Daz, I marshalled at the summer event last year for the first time. Duties included directing cars and campers to prevent chaos at the overnight area, then marshalling different check points on the Saturday and Sunday.
Gary, do it solo please need some good competition
Is that you Patrick? Your arm twisting may work! Now where's Houlihan and Brooke?
yes , gary its me im enterd solo and im looking forward too it. hopefully i will see you and the other "Boys"there!
I was going to enter as a solo, Gary (if I'm up to being considered competition), but Nic's suggesting we do it with our Rush team (Gary will know what I'm on about - not sure anybody else will). So not sure at the moment.
Going as Rush team is good idea. I'm now entered as solo - it's going to be lonely out there!
I'll wave as I pass (in the other direction).
Tell you what Chris. We'll do it as a team and you can just do most of it... solo would be good but 24 hours of biking the wkend before AR is seeming a bit tiring to me.
Gary i will keep you company! of course you will have to go bit slower for me!!!! Looking forward to see you.
Has anyone had their Cheque for entry cashed ?
I sent my cheque in before the end of January, and have made enquiries direct with Polaris since it hasn't been cashed. I was told that my cheque would be cashed in "a few weeks time", whenever that is.
May be they haven't had enough entries? The entries for the IOM don't exactly look like an unqaulified sucess. I would have liked to do NAVITAC but had trouble putting a team together

How about letting those of us who haven't been honoured with an application form into the game?

The minimum of 2 during the night is only for teams. Solos can go solo. I'd have thought this was reasonably obvious? The entry form (if you have one yet) has separate sections for team/solo.

1) Will the map be a special or an OS map?
2) Will it be possible for different team members from the same team to visit one checkpoint more than once during any one of the three blocks of time?
Thanks

any sign of the details for NAVITAC being posted on the website. I still haven't received details through the post despite, I am pretty sure, being on your database.

'Navitac team mate wanted' thread - bound to
be others in your situation - not me though -
still thinking about it but will be solo if I do it.

anything to go by then there will be a lot more
enthusiasm than fitness involved.
Also, remember that about half the
competitors at any event fail to break the top
50%!

Who need fitness when you have rabid enthusiasm?
I have often approached Polaris from the Checkpoint - Tea shop - Checkpoint - Pub - Checkpoint - Cafe approach! but still managed to get a (joint) 26th once in the senior category. Mind you that was in the early days of PC when enthusiasm definately seemed to outweigh ability for many competitors. Needless to say the same approach once got me absolute last place with 1 point but that is another story.
Just GO FOR IT!

I think there is a cut off date for cheaper entries for this event set at 1st March. Has there been any change of heart about the fees structure yet? This will influence whether 'I' enter as a pair or a solo.
Cheers, Gary

Seeing as there are 3 NAVITAC threads, can we make this the primary thread now?

Perks included food vouchers for the 2 days, and a free entry into a future Polaris. Oh yes, I got to wear a fetching green jacket seeing as it rained lots!!
If you can't compete, marshalling is a good way of getting involved and seeing the event from another perspective!!

Maybe they live a long way from a bank, and with public transport not being what it was, its been a bit difficult to get to pay them in...
Meanwhile we all wait with antipication to go overdrawn...
