There was a discussion earlier this year that the polaris organisers wanted people to enter earlier to get a better idea of numbers.
Are they actually having the summer event? no updates, no forms by mail, last time it went all quiet like this they canceled the Navitac event. Is SP going to happen?
In my experience the most reliable barometer of Polaris's intentions is your bank statement. My summer cheque has been cashed, but I agree the entry details and progress reports do need updating rather more often. I downloaded an entry form, so hadn't realised there has been no mailshot. What's going on???? I have booked leave to make sure we get there nice'n'early on the Friday. TALK TO US Polaris!
And I've booked B&B - have to have a bit of comfort after 7 hours of riding!
Given the current entry list I am hoping to make it into the top 30!
As a keen fan of Polaris I've managed to persuade a group of fellow employees to take part in the summer event.
The summer challenge is definitely taking place,
but you will be a bit short of competitors graham if someone doesn't make haste with the entry form mailshot!. Not everyone gets their form off the web!
Recently on this site, things got very negative and I don't think that episode should be repeated.
Entry form arrived in the post this morning (though I've already got mine off the web).
Traditionally people used to book early to avoid disappointment but over recent years entries have come in later possibly influenced by the web site who knows.
Then forget the complicated web site!
What's all the fuss about? EE have now sent me TWO entry forms. They must be keen to make me suffer! Unfortunately last minute work commitments look like preventing an entry but I am certainly up for the Autumn event (already booked some leave to be sure)
When is the Summer Event? I know it's late, but would
12th and 13th July
See what I mean - The Summer event details on a clean white background in large text as the main item on the home page would be sensible. Instead its in one corner, blue background and small type - result, David P can't find it.
HBF it is on the home page twice
Returning to polaris after a couple of years away, I do find the new web page to be a collection of disjointed bits and pieces. I had to use Google to find this discussion forum. I also remember that with only a couple of weeks to go their would be many more active threads about issues than the 3 I found today.
Err - as I've pointed out elsewhere (getting tedious now isn't it) - none of the 5 entry form links on the home page actually work! To get you started you can access the entry form online, in MSWord format or PDF.
Moan, moan, moan, moan.... Is that all some of these people can do? I assume, of course, that these people are all Peter or Pam Perfects!
No one is looking forward to this more that I am.
Can I suggest that a good way of encouraging people to enter early is to update the 'number of places available' bit on the web page so there is not the impression of having 470+ places free only 4 weeks before the event.

I'm having to defend the event when the website information is so out of date and absolutely no indication that the event is still going to take place. C'mon EE you can do better than this.

the event centre in Dalby Forest is booked along with the marquees, toilets, bar, wilf's and band. Not sure why web site is not being updated but I will chase Roger.
All negotiations have been completed with relevant bodies and I and sorting out final CP locations out here in Dubai.
I am returning to the UK at the end of June and looking forward to seeing you all on the start line.
Stop worrying and just get on and train the website is not a gospel, THE EVENT WILL HAPPEN

HOWEVER,it has to be admitted something seems to be going wrong - the website is rarely updated, the entry form mailshot hasn't even gone out - what is happening?
Many people love these events and certainly wouldn't want them to disappear. If there are specific problems I'm sure we could find volunteers to help??

Thanks for your positive comments Jane, it is difficult putting these events together and also running another business/having a job in parallel.
The website is being updated with an automatic link between the entry database and places but this takes time.
Technology moves fast and people expect more from it all of the time.
As a BOF and confirmed luddite things were simpler and less stressfull when started using paperwork only.
Slow down you move to fast got to make the morning last.

Well...perhaps my wife is - a weekend without me will be a blessing I'm sure.
Also no one is more imperfect than I am, as my pitiful results will show.
Graham, you are a top bloke organising a top event; We are going to have a great one!
