Hi,
I'm speculating here, but I would say there could be advantages to having the type 6, assuming that it is equally compatible with the rest of the system as type 5 would be.
I'm planning to buy a sportident card, rather than hire one, for the Autumn and subsequent Polaris events. The sportident website shows two types are available; SI card 5 and SI card 6. The latter appears to have greater functionality (in addition to being available in lots of fancy colours).
Do Polaris Challenge, or other forum readers, have any views to share on the need for the more complex Card 6? or will the simpler Card 5 be adequate.
I don't at present see the need for the more complex Card 6 (64 punches rather than "only" 36 for the card 5 !! I should be so lucky), and recent events have clearly used the Card 5. However, I don't want to get the Card 5 if it's going to lack some useful feature.
Thanks for any thoughts.
Bob

As this type of scoring system is reliable it is likely to become ever more common in these type of events, it would be a shame to fork out 18 to have something that was soon obsolete. Disadvangtage of course is that type 6 is more than twice the price.
But, with type 6 being three times faster than type 5, that could be worth at least a couple points ;)
