Has anyone outhere got PHD minimus bag or similar and managed to survive relatively comfortably in the Spring / Autumn events particuarly the 2002 Autumn event which seemed to be a pretty cold night.
I have got a minim400 which is great, heavier, but I would not have wanted much less Autumn 2002.My partner has a top bag warm and light, but remember your hat (it does not have a hood)and lie still(it has no insulation underneath). If they had made topbags in different sizes when I bought mine I would have got one. However at 6'4 I don't fit in the standard one. (they now make them in different sizes)
Dave,
Ian,
I've heard that a pound of butter is good to keep you warm ;) They used it during the first British Antartic Expedition.
A whole 454g of butter...

You remember how cold the IOM camp was (or wasn't depending on what you're used to)? I heard of a chap who nearly froze his ar$e off in a Rab Q200 bag, despite wearing all his other clothes as well.
I use an Rab Alpine 300 which is good down to about -5degrees (for me) and weighs about 730g. You can also spec Rab bags with any fill weight you like, have them extra long, extra short and wether or not they have a zip too. Hope thats some help.

I was toasty in IOM but then my current bag is rated to -7. I'm trying to cut weight and pack size to squeeze into a 25l sack. Many tests of the q200 reckon it tests warmer than alot of 0 rated bags, and I plan to eat alot of chocalte just before sleeping.
Are you entered for October? I would love to go to France but have run up a big debt of family time this year.

I am entered for the Pennines, but this time as a pair(!). I too would have fancied doing the France PC, but can't really afford it.
