I notice the main web site says maps are only guaranteed for entries rec'd as at 20th Sept plus the next 100 received.

How do I know whether I'm one of these, my entry was submitted a few days before this date, but couldn't guarantte when it was rec'd. I hate to turn up late friday night & find I haven't got one of these maps. Doubt they'll be many shops locally open late pm/early am to buy the equivalent OS Maps from.

we have ordered 700 maps so there will be plenty, too many at the current entry level

By grahamL ( - 80.6.68.85) on Friday, September 26, 2003 - 08:40 am:

not much point really as none of you will have maps, anyway it is normally the Thursday before the event

Paul

There will be several "beer tents" on the event, just make sure your route goes past all those little buildings on the map marked "PH" or "Inn", do I detect that you don't take the event too seriously???

I'm trying to do so myself but you are talking to someone who did carry his own beer on the first ever PC by strapping a can of guiness to the frame! For those of you who think this a wasted effort, it wasn't. My partner was so ambitious we decided to go for "one last checkpoint" then we suffered three punctures and by the time we rolled in three hours late (in the dark) all the beer at the OC had been sold out! So that can of guiness was really appreciated!!!

sorry Tony F,this was called HUMOUR,but hi,some people can laugh, some people tend to TAKE life just to darn serious,no what i mean!!

we start at Alston does that mean camp over at say Blanchland?

Paul

I never thought it was anything but humour! Which is why I replied in kind (and I do hope there is a beer tent at the OC)

I believe that maintaining a sense of humour is the key to surviving an event like the PC, after all if it stops being funny anymore what the hell is the point, although I admit that subjecting myself to pain for two days is a funny way of gaining enjoyment!

I note from the entry list that we are both in vets/solo. I'm off 10 minutes after you, so might be able to say hi!

Good luck.

I think Blanchland is too far away from Alston for the overnight camp - it would use up a good bit of the 5 hours on Sunday just getting back to Alston, with some big hills in the way.
Did you not do capitals in primary school Paul?
