Any details on this? Is it going to go ahead?

Was really looking forward to it in May, but it didn't get off the ground. Hopefully better luck in 2004.

Still thinking about it and trying to find a suitable event area.
NYMNP is ideal as it has big tracts of open moorland, big forest blocks for safe night riding and a low density of minor roads. But now that the area is a SSSI there is too much opposition from English Nature/Landowners.
Plenty of scope in the Borders/Northumberland but we have reservations as to whether teams would travel.
We are also considering combining the Navitac with the summer PC.
Anyone with ideas of an area then let us know.

What about Salisbury Plain? The odd bit of exploding ordnance could help light our way!!!

Combining with the Summer PC sounds like a great idea. You will already have all the infrastructure etc in place. If you don't get enough entries for the 24hr then rather than cancel there is the option of the normal 2 day summer format.

don't amalgamate! there's lotsa folk want to do both events - so don't risk screwing up the summer event. I agree with Tony F - Salisbury would be ideal - so long as Johnny Soldier goes on his hols and takes the red flags down for the weekend.

Graham
What are the chances of the navitac going ahead as it looks at the moment? Lots of dates in the calender, do we keep the weekend free?
Any info would be helpful

The Navitac will not get off the ground this year, sorry about this. We have removed the date off the front page of the web site.
The format is good but at the moment we cannot sort an area out that would suit the event.
The ideal area would be an upland area with a large forest block for the night section. For safety reasons we consider it essential that we should be in an area with as few roads as possible hence the desire for a forest but the whole event should not be a forest(Kielder for example) for the sake of interest.
The area we had in mind was the NYMNP where we held last years summer event but the whole area is closed for for large scale competitive events between March and July due to the fact that the moorland has been declared a SSSI and English Nature have convinced the NYMNP to withold permission. We don't need their permission to use the ROW's but we do need the support of the landowners to locate CP's on their land. To upset the landowners would only jeopardise other events in the NYMNP.
But, we will be looking at other areas during the year to see if we can run the event in 2005,so if anyone knows a good area then please let me know.
