The Phil & Friends ride that is.
Polaris staff, Barry & Will, who ride for Team RVO Racing, took part in the CTC Challenge ride 'Phil & friends' at the weekend. Phil, if you are unsure, is Phil Liggett (MBE) the ITV4 Tour de France commentator (alongside Paul Sherwen).
The 150km route was lumpy to say the least, taking in climbs of Holme Moss, Winnatts Pass, Monsal Head and a few other toughies. The riders set out in breezy conditions and soon enough the heavens opened. Descending Holme Moss in torrential rain was quite tough (Malcom Elliot flew past us at this point). Eventually the rain ceased and as we approached Chapel en le Frith the rain jackets could finally be taken off. After a tough climb up to Rushup edge, the route descended down to Edale, back to Hope and up the dreaded Winnatts Pass. Thankfully after a rest stop at Monsall Head all the riders managed to make it round the route.
Phil and the CTC guys again provided a great day out. Many thanks to all the marshalls.
ps if you fancy doing the ride, but are put off by the distance there is a 100km option.
See you next year. Will & Barry
